18-Wheeler Car Wreck
Kills Woman in North Austin
The Austin American Statesman reports an 18-wheeler in North Austin, Texas near Burnet Road and RM 2222 collided with another vehicle and killed one woman. The auto collision happened Sunday night just after 9pm. No other injuries were reported. Car wrecks and automobile collisions occur quickly, be a defensive driver and avoid distracted driving. Whether or not a wrongful death claim will be filed has yet to be reported. The potential for exposure by the insurance company insuring the truck driver could be substantial should the 18 wheeler driver be found liable for the accident.
There were no reports of alcohol being involved and no citations for DWI or driving while intoxicated were issued by Austin Police.

The Austin Police Department reports DWI | Driving While Intoxicated deaths and arrests were up substantially in 2013 compared to 2012. This is despite unprecedented DWI enforcement efforts by the department. In 2012, 33 people died in Austin, Texas in automobile collisions where alcohol was a factor. Amazingly, in 2013 Austin hit this death mark by the end of March. Total numbers of deaths in alcohol related car wrecks for 2013 will not be released until March 2014.
MADD continues to do great work and fight for change in the Austin area to prevent injury and deaths from alcohol related auto collisions. keyetv reports Angela Tidwell, with MADD said,
